EQuiv. Notes
Useful as a “heuristic” “any approach to problem solving or self-discovery that employs a practical method, not guaranteed to be optimal, perfect, logical, or rational, but instead sufficient for reaching an immediate goal.” Dict.
The three major educational interaction forms (student-teacher; student-content; student-student) each have pedagogical value.
BUT they can be proportioned or substituted to accommodate the subject and the students’ or teachers’ context.
EQuiv roots in Pragmatic approach. Quality is what works best.
Challenge is measuring learning or more broadly educational outcomes.
The ‘theory’ is intentionally provocative, so as to open the door to disruptive technologies.
I’m not even sure I can think of a 100%/0%/0% substitution, that would work effectively.
There is no combination of S/C/T interaction that is best in all contexts.
Designers’ role is to include a mix of S/C/T that motivates, results in learning and is worth completing.
